Exhibition 'Fish of the Volga-Caspian Basin'

About exhibition

In the exhibition hall 'Ichthyofauna of the Volga-Caspian Basin' of the Astrakhan Regional History Museum there is an exhibition dedicated to one of the main riches of the Astrakhan Region – its fish resources and their use by humans throughout the history of the region's development. The hall features a dry aquarium with representatives of the local ichthyofauna. Rare exhibits include taxidermied giant fish: a beluga (6 m 16 cm), a sturgeon (2 m 50 cm) and other inhabitants of the Volga-Caspian Basin. Visitors can also see fishing gear and models of fishing vessels here. Detailed information about the institution's opening hours is available on the website.
