Exhibition "In Defense of the Forest"
About exhibition
The forest is not only trees and shrubs, but also the herbaceous and ground cover, animals and birds, fungi and insects, and microorganisms that are closely interconnected and interact with each other. A forest fire is the forest’s greatest enemy. It is the uncontrolled burning of vegetation on forest land. Its danger lies in its rapid and often spontaneous spread, which is difficult to combat, and its consequences—in the long restoration of flora and fauna in the affected area, damage to the region’s ecological, economic, and material conditions, and harm to people’s physical and psychological health. To prevent forest fires, forest safety rules must always be observed. Forest fires are fought by the fire service, to which this exhibition is dedicated. The exhibition displays items inseparably connected with the history of firefighting in the Maklakov area and the modern city of Lesosibirsk. In the display cases are firefighters’ personal service awards, photographs, and items indispensable for firefighting. In the guide’s portfolio are materials demonstrating the evolution of firefighting equipment and uniforms. A separate section is devoted to photographs documenting the largest fires in Lesosibirsk over the past 10 years.
