The exhibition presents works by Klin-based artist Yuri Vasilievich Karapaev: his easel paintings, sketches and studies for miniature boxes and panels, as well as personal photographs and art supplies. The artist's work is appealing for the immediacy of his impressions, keen observational skills, and the ability to focus on the essentials. The uniqueness of Karapaev's paintings lies in the blending of techniques, methods, and artistic materials not typically used in painting. Yuri Vasilievich brings decorative techniques characteristic of Fedoskino lacquer miniatures into easel painting. Some of the works on display were executed with a palette knife, giving them a mosaic-like, vivid and three-dimensional quality.
