Permanent exhibition of the Stupino Historical and Local History Museum
About exhibition
The Historical Hall displays authentic items of the Dyakovo culture, of the early Slavs and of the Middle Ages, from which the history of Stupino itself begins. The hall also exhibits items from the estates of the Renaissance era — those of Count Orlov and the enlightener Nikolai Novikov. Objects from the late 19th to the early 20th centuries tell about the everyday life of townspeople and peasants, as well as about the revolutionary period. The “Nature of the Moscow Region” exhibition will be especially interesting for children. Here visitors can see taxidermy of rare animals and birds, learn what the skins of different animals look like, see their tracks and hear the calls of birds. The exhibition is complemented by insects and amphibians of the southern Moscow Region. The exhibition “Military Feats of the People of Stupino. The History of the Great Victory” is devoted to the daily life of a young provincial town, the hard work of its inhabitants and industrial enterprises in 1941–1945. It contains authentic items — witnesses to heroism on the battlefields and at the home front. For the 75th anniversary of the Victory the exhibition was supplemented with multimedia elements and electronic labels. Many items were displayed in the renewed exhibition for the first time. Another hall, which opened its doors in 2020, is called the “Gallery of Glory”. It features portraits of all local natives who are Heroes of the Soviet Union and full holders of the Order of Glory. Twenty-five paintings were executed by Stupino artists B. Chaykin, T. Privalova, V. Chimbarcev and I. Starostin.
