Exhibitions and temporary exhibitions of the State Museum of Political History of Russia
About exhibition
The museum presents the key events of Russian history, changes of political regimes, wars, revolutions and reforms. The museum buildings are two Art Nouveau architectural monuments, the mansions of Matilda Kshesinskaya and Vasily Brant. The museum features the following exhibitions: "Man and Power in Russia in the 19th–21st Centuries" — devoted to the relationship between the individual and the state at the turning points of Russian history. "The Revolution in Russia. 1917–1922" — tells of the February uprising, the October armed coup and the Civil War. The memorial halls recreate the setting of Lenin’s study; he worked in the Kshesinskaya mansion in 1917. "Matilda Kshesinskaya. Fouetté of Fate" — reflects the life and work of the famous ballerina. "The Empire on the Path to Modernization. Russia in the 19th – early 20th century" — recounts the abolition of serfdom, the emergence of parliamentarism, and the development of the labor and revolutionary movements. The admission ticket grants access to all current exhibitions and displays in the main museum building, including the "PROdetstvo" exhibition at the Children's Historical Museum.
