Visiting the Vytegra Local History Museum will introduce you to the nature, history and culture of the Vytegra area. You can see unique taxidermy sculptures from the museum founders' collection, made as early as the beginning of the century, which illustrate the region's biological diversity. In the archaeology department you will learn about the area’s earliest history through finds made by the Vytegra detachment of the North Russian Archaeological Expedition under the leadership of A. M. Ivanishchev. In the history department's displays, alongside typical museum items that characterize the everyday life and culture of the southeastern Onega region, you will find extremely rare exhibits that reveal little‑known pages of the region’s history.
