Exhibition 'Portrait of the Sukhanov Family'
About exhibition
The exhibition in the Sukhanov family house is a vivid illustration of the life of a Russian family in the early 20th century. In the five rooms of the two‑storey mansion are a living room, dining room, boys' and girls' bedrooms, and the head of the family's study. A piano by Smidt & Wegener, a Tula samovar, the magazine 'Primorsky Khozyain', a chess table — all these and many other items recreate the everyday life of a civil servant's family. Upon entering the museum it feels as if you have come to visit your beloved grandmother. The Sukhanov family was not ordinary — it is enough to say that several toponyms, not only in Vladivostok but also in Primorsky Krai, were named in their honor. State Councilor Alexander Vasilyevich Sukhanov was an exemplar of the kind of person on whose shoulders society's life rests. His son Konstantin was one of the first fighters for Soviet power in the Far East. Konstantin Sukhanov's nephew and grandson became space researchers.
