Visitors are invited to discover the art of Western European masters of the 16th–19th centuries and works of Eastern art. The M. F. Gabyshev Gallery of Foreign Art brings together two of the most remarkable phenomena of the past century: the architectural monument “Yakutsk District Treasury” and the priceless legacy of scholar and patron Mikhail Gabyshev. The core of the permanent exhibition is made up of paintings and graphic works by Italian, French, Dutch and Flemish masters of the 16th–19th centuries, along with selected works by artists from other European countries from the collection of a well-known Yakut collector. An engaging collection of Eastern art from the 17th–20th centuries seamlessly complements the museum’s holdings. In the renewed exhibition, tactile models of netsuke — enlarged copies of originals from the collection of the National Art Museum of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) — will be available to visitors, providing the opportunity to touch samples of works by Japanese netsuke carvers and thereby feel and experience the art of the ancient masters.
