The Zoological Museum of Moscow State University is the oldest and largest museum in Moscow, founded in 1791 as the university's cabinet of natural history. In 1902 the construction of the museum building on Bolshaya Nikitskaya Street was completed, and in 1911 an exhibition was opened here to the public. The museum features around 10,000 exhibits, from protozoa to primates, and more than 10 million animal specimens. The museum receives approximately 100,000 visitors annually. Guided tours, online and offline lectures, environmental festivals and events, and interactive activities for visitors aged 4 and up are held here.
