Zhdanovsky Museum
About museum
On April 1, 2022, the MBUK 'Museum of the Alexandrovsky District' was established in the Zhdanovsky area of the Alexandrovsky District of Orenburg Oblast. In 1985, thanks to the initiative of M. E. Rempel, a school history museum was created, which collected more than 600 exhibits that allow visitors to learn about the everyday life and traditions of the German Mennonites. After the emigration of the Germans, the museum's activities were suspended. However, on the eve of the celebration of the 110th anniversary of the opening of the first school in the village of Zhdanovka and the 120th anniversary of the founding of the German settlements, a study was conducted that led to the idea of creating an ethnographic museum of German national culture. For this purpose, the building of the former German Mennonite church (kirche), built in 1917, was chosen. The museum houses exhibitions dedicated to the history of the settlers, their everyday life, village culture, school life, test parachutist Petr Zadirov, as well as to people who defended the Motherland. The museum presents collections of photographic and video equipment from the 1950s-1980s, irons, scales, musical instruments, and more.
