Izhad Exhibition Hall
About museum
'Izhad' in Bashkir means 'art, creativity'. The exhibition hall opened on June 12, 2002, in a building erected in 1954 during the construction of the city of Chernikovsk (since 1956 — a district of the city of Ufa). The centerpiece of the architectural project was Sergo Ordzhonikidze Square, which was intended for the display of art. The buildings on the square were built in the Stalinist Empire style — majestic, pompous structures featuring the classical orders and rich decorative elements. In the residential building that houses the exhibition hall, the ground floor was designed for an art gallery, and in 1954 an art gallery was opened here where exhibitions of Bashkir artists were held. Currently, Izhad hosts exhibitions of various levels, as well as creative meetings, master classes, concerts, and poetry evenings.
