Voroshilov Museum
About museum
.
Voroshilov Museum was founded on May 6, 1969, at the initiative of local historian I. I. Smirnov and began its activities in the "red corner" room of the village club. As the collection grew, the Oktyabrsky Village Council decided to transfer to the museum the first floor of the former dacha of N. A. Linin. In 1981, the Voroshilov Museum was incorporated into the Kalinin Combined Museum. After the 1992 fire, a decision was made to renovate the building of the former depository and to place the main part of the exhibition there. In the autumn of 1995 the museum was opened for tours and visits. The exhibition includes sections on archaeology, peasant everyday life, trades and crafts, the local noble family Chelishchev and N. A. Linin, as well as the Otolovskaya Church. The museum implements an educational program "History of the Voroshilov Region" for children in grades 1–11, and events are also held in the territory of the Voroshilov rural settlement. Since 2011 the museum has held an annual research competition in local history named after I. I. Smirnov.
