Military-Historical Fortification Museum "Vladivostok Fortress"
About museum
In 1860 Ensign Nikolay Vasilyevich Komarov arrived in the Far East with a small detachment to build a naval post. Within four months a wooden outpost, a barracks and various utility buildings were constructed. Since then the place grew into a fairly large settlement called Vladivostok. The museum complex displays equipment used in the fortress’s construction: mine carts, a fragment of a cableway, and well-preserved casemates. One of the streets was named in honor of Ensign Komarov. Thus, Ensign Komarov rightfully earned the title 'Defender of the Far East.'
