In 1967 the Sudislavsky Local History Museum was established under the name "People's Historical-Revolutionary." In 1970 it joined the Kostroma State Art and Historical Museum-Reserve. In 1994 the museum was moved into a building built in 1895 by merchant M. I. Sokolov, which previously served as the State Bank. In 2018 the museum left the association. The museum presents a permanent exhibition "Sudislavl — a trading, merchant town," which depicts the region's history, the occupations of the population, crafts and trades, illustrated by authentic items from that time. In addition, temporary exhibitions of various themes are permanently presented in two other halls.
