Staroshcherbinovsky Historical and Local Lore Museum named after M.M. Posternak
About museum
Staroshcherbinovsky museum is located in the center of the stanitsa Staroshcherbinovskaya. It was built in 1912 and belonged to a well-to-do Cossack named Krikun. The building retains its historic layout and facades and is included in the list of cultural and historical heritage. On January 18, 1991 it was awarded the honorary title 'People's Museum' for many years of work educating youth and schoolchildren. On January 23, 2002 the museum became a municipal institution and was given the name of its founder — Maria Mitrofanovna Posternak. The museum's collections include more than 5,000 unique items, documents, photographs and objects from the Soviet era. The museum's exhibition covers the historical period from the late 19th century to the first half of the 20th century, presenting Cossack life and the pre-war history of the stanitsa, the events of the Great Patriotic War (World War II), as well as the contemporary development of the district. The displays include travelling and permanent exhibitions, and numerous cultural and educational events are held.
