Pochinkovsky People's Local History Museum
About museum
Since August 24, 1970 the Pochinkovsky Local History Museum has been in operation; it was granted the status of an official cultural institution on May 18, 1984. It is located in the historic Loshchinin house, built in the second half of the 19th century. After the October Revolution the building changed hands frequently: it first housed the post office, then served as a dormitory for the pedagogical college and its base school, and in 1962 an annex was built for the eight-year school. Since 1999 a community museum collection has been housed in the left wing of the building. Since April 2012 it has been part of the municipal budgetary cultural institution "Pochinkovsky Cultural and Leisure Center." The museum currently presents 12 exhibitions, including "Sailor from the cruiser Varyag," "History of the Stud Farm," "Russian Izba," "Heroes of the Undeclared War," "Along the Roads of Millennia," and others. Among them the most visited exhibitions are "The Past of Pochinok," "Wheel of History," numismatics, Russian samovars, antique clothing, etc.
