Petropavlovsky District Local History Museum
About museum
The Petropavlovsky District Local History Museum was founded in 1983 by Pavel Stepanovich Beschetnov. The museum's halls present the historical and cultural stages of the district's development: the history of settlement; the life and household items of peasants of the late 19th — early 20th centuries; the district's archaeology and natural environment; peasant life in a "Russian izba" (traditional log house); the history of the district's formation and development during the Soviet period; as well as soldiers and wars of the 20th century. The museum has 3,609 exhibits, including unique items and an ethnographic collection. Exhibitions are dedicated to the history of the district's formation and development, the achievements and victories of working people, the development of agricultural sectors, district administration, healthcare organizations, education, culture and sports, social development, as well as objects, photographs and documents from the Soviet period. The museum serves visitors of all ages and categories and takes part in regional events. The museum's collections are continually supplemented with original documents, photographs and household items.
