Pelym Historical and Local Lore Museum
About museum
A local history club, created in March 2000 and including students from the 6th grades, worked on collecting materials about the history of the Pelym settlement and the surrounding region. Based on the collected materials and with the aim of preserving cultural heritage sites, by decree No. 117 of the head of the municipal formation (Pelym settlement) dated September 6, 2004, the Pelym Municipal Archaeological and Ethnographic Museum-Reserve was established. A structural subdivision of this institution is the historical and local lore museum of the Pelym settlement. Since November 27, 2015, in accordance with decree No. 16 'On the status of the Pelym Historical and Local Lore Museum' of the head of the Pelym urban district, the Pelym Municipal Archaeological and Ethnographic Museum-Reserve changed its name and is regarded as the Pelym Historical and Local Lore Museum. The museum's main visitors are children. Master classes in folk applied arts are held here, along with a wide range of cultural and educational programs for all categories of visitors. Today the museum has five permanent exhibitions: Hall of Archaeology and Ethnography of the Region; Hall of Military Glory; 'Everyday Life in Pelym in the 1960s–1980s'; 'Fauna and Flora of the Urals'; 'History of Technology'.
