Novo-Chigolsky People's Local History Museum
About museum
The Novo-Chigolsky People's Local History Museum was founded in 1967. Its founder was Aleksandr Timofeevich Lukyanov (1915–1999), an honored teacher of the RSFSR, an honorary citizen of Talovsky District, and a local historian. The museum is housed in the home of merchant Bunin, built in 1882. It contains nearly 2,500 exhibits that tell the story of the settlement of the region, the life of peasants in the 19th and early 20th centuries, and the formation and development of the village during the Soviet era. The displays include models of an izba (peasant hut), fields, tools, household items, achievements of the collective farm system, education, and culture. The museum also features materials dedicated to defenders of the homeland during the Civil War, the Great Patriotic War (World War II), and the Soviet–Afghan War. The museum hosts events for all visitors, including children, and invites people to visit and learn about the region's history.
