About museum
In 2002, the Nizhne-Dzhengutaevsky Local History Museum was opened as a branch of the National Museum of Dagestan named after A. Taho-Godi. Its collections contain more than 1,000 exhibits that allow visitors to learn about the history of the settlement of Nizhny Dzhengutay. The museum displays household items from the late 19th–20th centuries, as well as agricultural tools and craftsmen's implements. There is also a unique ethnographic collection including various household utensils, a volumetric cylindrical grain storage, a clay storage for cornmeal, and items from ancient Kumyk costume ensembles. The museum also features handmade carpets, and in the section dedicated to the Great Patriotic War (World War II) one can learn about natives of Nizhny Dzhengutay who participated in it.
