Nerekhta Local History Museum

About museum

The Bryukhanov Hospital ensemble is a red-brick building in the Art Nouveau style, decorated with majolica tiles in purple and malachite colors, which remains one of the most beautiful in Nerekhta. It was built in the early 20th century by Nerekhta industrialist K. A. Bryukhanov. It successively housed a hospital for the factory workers and, in Soviet times, the city maternity hospital. The building is currently used for temporary museum exhibitions devoted to the history of Nerekhta's merchant class, entrepreneurship and artisanal crafts, as well as exhibitions by artists from Nerekhta and other regions.
