UGMK Museum of Military Equipment
About museum
The UGMK Museum of Military Equipment is a social project implemented by the Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company in the town of Verkhnyaya Pyshma (Sverdlovsk Oblast) to preserve the memory of the Motherland's heroic past and to promote military-patriotic education among youth. Today the UGMK Museum of Military Equipment is rightfully regarded as one of the largest Russian exhibition venues of a military-technical profile. Over 10 years the museum's collection has grown to more than 500 units of military equipment, unique collections of domestic awards, military regalia, full-scale models of firearms, as well as uniforms, gear, and insignia of the Russian armed forces from the 18th century to the present day. The museum holds many genuinely unique exhibits, including a 152 mm howitzer Model 1909, the 203 mm B-4 howitzer, the MS-1 light tank and the twin-turret T-26, among others. The exhibition is closely tied to the region's history, as many tanks and guns were manufactured at Ural factories — in Sverdlovsk, Perm, and Chelyabinsk. In particular, the museum houses the basic modifications of the T-34 tank, as well as almost all Soviet self-propelled artillery vehicles from the Great Patriotic War and the postwar period. Many of the exhibits take part in the annual ceremonial procession on May 9.
