Kotlyarevskaya Stanitsa Museum
About museum
In February 1979 the Kotlyarevskaya Stanitsa Museum was opened. It was built and maintained at the expense of the collective farm "Krasnaya Niva" and in 1996 was transferred to the municipal ownership of the rural settlement of Kotlyarevskaya Stanitsa. It is registered in the All-Russian Register of Museums and currently has 11,030 items in its collection. Extensive work is carried out to preserve the household items, culture and traditions of the Terek Cossacks, and to educate young people in the spirit of patriotism and to preserve the memory of their ancestors — defenders of the Motherland. The museum hosts lessons of courage, meetings, memorial evenings and other events. Work is also underway to preserve monuments and inventory burials in the stanitsa cemetery, and to identify graves of participants of the Great Patriotic War. Regular excursions are held for schoolchildren, where they learn about the life of the Cossacks and their service to the Motherland. Exhibits are also continually being added to the State Catalogue of the Russian Federation.
