About museum

The Garage Museum of Contemporary Art is a place where people, ideas, and art come together to make history. Founded in 2008 by Daria Zhukova, it is the first philanthropic organization in Russia to promote the development of contemporary art and culture. The Garage Center for Contemporary Culture runs a wide program of exhibition, educational, research, and publishing activities that reflect current processes in Russian and international culture. In 2014, Garage was renamed the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art to draw more attention to the work of living artists and the history of art. In 2015, Garage moved into its first permanent building in Gorky Park in central Moscow, where it continues its mission.
