About museum
'A museum about how a sea was built in Siberia.'
The 'Chyomy' Museum is a branch of the 'Museum of Novosibirsk'.
The museum's main exhibition is devoted to the period of construction of the Novosibirsk Hydroelectric Power Plant (1950–1961) and what existed before it.
In the permanent exhibition you can find:

• unique photographs and press from the construction period;
• a 1950 map that does not yet show the Ob Reservoir;
• a 1948 map marking the planned flood zone;
• household items from the Soviet period (1950s–1980s);
• deep-water equipment used by the HPP divers until 2000.
On the interactive screen you will see:
• archival documentary films from the time of the Novosibirsk HPP construction;
• archival photographs of the construction and the birth of the Levye Chyomy neighborhood;
• a bound volume of the newspaper 'Na Stroyke' from 1957.
The museum has opened 'Diazal', where you can recall your childhood and show your children favorite filmstrips. The museum's collection contains more than 200 filmstrips.
