Museum of Russian-Armenian Friendship
About museum
The Rostov Regional Museum of Local History was opened on May 1, 1910, and is an important monument of the history and culture of the Don region. At present the museum's collection includes more than 350,000 items. In connection with the merger of two cities — Rostov-on-Don (founded in 1749) and Nakhichevan-on-Don (founded in 1779) — a decision was made to establish the Museum of Russian-Armenian Friendship, which was opened on November 25, 2011. It is located in the two-story mansion of merchant M. Iskidarov. On the second floor there is the exhibition "A New Shelter on the Don Land", dedicated to the history of the resettlement of Armenians from Crimea and the founding of the New Nakhichevan colony. The first floor houses exhibition halls with rotating exhibitions of fine, decorative, and applied arts.
