About museum
The history of the Ostrolensky Settlement Museum begins on May 25, 1995. Ivan Alekseevich Vasilyev, a local historian and an expert on the history of his native village and region, was the organizer and first director of the museum, which is currently housed in the House of Culture. Collecting activities are actively ongoing. Here visitors can learn about the ancient history of the Trans-Urals, including the Stone and Bronze Ages, learn about the origins of the Nagaybaks, trace their migration and everyday life, gain an understanding of military service, and also become acquainted with the history of the settlement and its residents from the late 19th century through the second half of the 20th century. In addition, the museum exhibits a collection of minerals mined in the Nagaybaksky District, as well as a reconstructed living room of the Nagaybak Cossacks.
