Ples State Historical, Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve presents the art of landscape painting from the late 18th century to the early 21st century and invites visitors to immerse themselves in the world of Russian landscape art.
The Ples Museum-Reserve was opened in 1997 in the historic merchant mansion of the Groshevy-Podgornov family. It presents the art of landscape painting from the late 18th century to the early 21st century and demonstrates the development of the Russian landscape school. The museum's unique exhibition features works by landscape painters of the second half of the 19th — early 20th centuries, including paintings by I. I. Levitan, A. K. Savrasov, I. I. Shishkin, A. P. Bogolyubov, V. D. Polenov, A. A. Kiselev, N. A. Yaroshenko, N. N. Dubovsky, I. N. Tvorozhnikov, A. E. Makovskaya and others. The museum hosts exhibitions, creative meetings, master classes, concerts, and competitions. Museum tours are designed for a wide range of visitors of different ages, education levels, and social groups. It invites everyone to immerse themselves in the world of Russian landscape art.
