P. I. Tchaikovsky Museum in Moscow
About museum
On May 18, 2007, the P. I. Tchaikovsky Museum was opened in Moscow in the building of the Cultural Center named after the composer. Pyotr Ilyich lived in this house from September 1872 to November 1873. During this period Moscow became for him not only a place of residence but also provided friends and like-minded people who helped him overcome everyday difficulties and contributed to the flourishing of his creativity. In honor of the composer's 175th anniversary, on November 14 an exhibition "Tchaikovsky and the World" was opened, presenting authentic materials: historical documents, the composer's personal belongings, photographs of P. I. Tchaikovsky, engravings, lithographs, graphic works, drawings, letters, autographs and scores. The exhibition is devoted to two components of the great artist's existence: an active dialogue with the outside world and a concentrated inner life. The exhibition halls are filled with phonographic recordings of Tchaikovsky's musical works. The exhibition offers a unique opportunity to view the composer's life and work.
