The 'Special Treasury' Museum
About museum
In the western wing of the Grand Peterhof Palace is the 'Special Treasury' Museum, which took its name from the double-headed heraldic eagle that crowns the building's dome. The building played a special role in the life of the imperial residence; distinguished guests and members of the royal family lived and stayed there. The museum displays items of church plate, examples of decorative and applied arts and jewelry, as well as clothing and gifts commissioned by the imperial court from leading jewelers. Among the museum's exhibits are items such as Peter I's costume, the shoes and uniform dress of Catherine II, Nicholas I's uniform, and numerous awards and gifts such as goblets, snuffboxes, brooches, cigarette cases, watches and rings.
