Icebreaker "Angara" Museum
About museum
The icebreaker "Baikal" is the oldest known surviving icebreaker in the world. It was built more than a hundred years ago at the Sir W. G. Armstrong, Whitworth & Co. shipyard in Newcastle (United Kingdom). It was designed to break a path through the icy expanses of Lake Baikal. The icebreaker now houses an exhibition dedicated to the history of navigation on Lake Baikal and in Siberia. Visitors can take a full overview tour of the ship and also descend into the engine room. The icebreaker regularly hosts meetings, film screenings and concerts. This place attracts many visitors and is a true historical monument.
