About museum
House No. 8 on Metallistov Street, in the very center of the Museum Quarter, was built in the early 20th century by the merchant Yakov Adrianovich Likhosherstov. He gave it a distinctive appearance with remarkable balconies, carved wooden posts and railings, and a decorative roof. The building contained residential quarters, a shop, warehouses, and a candle factory in the backyard annexes. Until 1917 the house belonged to Likhosherstov; afterwards it was nationalized and used as housing. Currently the building has been transferred to the Kulikovo Field Museum-Reserve, where the cultural project 'Archaeology' is being implemented. As part of the project there is an interactive exhibition, an exhibition hall, a public library, and a restaurant specializing in historical cuisine. This unique space will serve as a venue for people interested in history and archaeology, as well as for those who wish to gain educational knowledge.
