About museum
The Alexander Tvardovsky Museum in Smolensk is a small space restored to the appearance it had in the 1950s-1960s. In 1943 the poet came here as a war correspondent for a newspaper. In 1990 his apartment was officially opened as a museum. Here you can see all interior elements preserved up to the 1970s, as well as photographs, letters and the poet's personal belongings. The museum features a living room, the parents' bedroom, the room of his sisters Anna and Maria, an entryway and a kitchen, reconstructed as memorial-domestic rooms. Visiting the museum will give you the opportunity to become better acquainted with the life and work of the great poet.
The museum displays the poet's personal belongings, his letters, photographs, books and other materials.
