Museum of Astrakhan Culture
About museum
\r\nThe Museum of Astrakhan Culture, a branch of the Astrakhan State United Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve, was opened in 1978 as the N. G. Chernyshevsky Literary Museum. It is located in a historic building constructed at the end of the 18th century and is recognized as an architectural monument of federal significance. In 2000 the museum was renamed the Museum of Astrakhan Culture due to the expansion of its exhibition and the inclusion of materials related to the region's cultural life. The collection features materials about prominent figures associated with Astrakhan, as well as the region's musical, theatrical and book culture of the 18th–20th centuries. The museum displays authentic 19th-century items, including furniture, paintings, documents, photographs, household items, and theatrical sketches and models. On the second floor a new exhibition, 'Photographer's Studio', has opened, recreating the studio of a provincial photographer of the late 19th — early 20th century in period interiors.
