The museum building was constructed in 1932 and once served as the training school attended by the first cosmonaut, Y. A. Gagarin. The Cosmonautics Museum in Orenburg is located in the former flight school building where the first cosmonaut, Y. A. Gagarin, trained. It was established by order of the USSR Minister of Defense in 1960 and began its activity as the Hall of Military Glory of the Orenburg Higher Military Aviation School of Pilots. Gradually, the exhibits and materials transformed it into the Museum of the School's History.
