About museum

On August 2, 2020, the museum of the USSR pilot-cosmonaut No. 5 (world No. 9), Valery Fedorovich Bykovsky — twice Hero of the Soviet Union, Hero of the GDR, Hero of Socialist Labor of Bulgaria, and Hero of Labor of Vietnam — was opened in Pavlovsky Posad. It was established with funds from a presidential grant and with co-financing from the administration of Pavlovsky Posad. Valery Bykovsky was one of the most famous cosmonauts of the first group. His total time in space amounts to 20 days. The museum exhibits the cosmonaut's personal belongings, photographs, gifts, and other artifacts. It is located in the center of Pavlovsky Posad and is intended to pay tribute to the memory of Valery Bykovsky and to promote astronautics among young people.
