Museum of the History of Agriculture of Yakutia named after I.Ya. Stroda
About museum
At present the museum is one of the republic's most important historical monuments. The museum was founded by a long-time resident of the district and Soviet party official Vasily Yeremeyevich Kornilov. In subsequent years the museum's directors were Dmitry Petrovich Popov, a Soviet party official, and Mefodiy Vasilievich Anisimov, a history teacher and participant in the Great Patriotic War. In the 1960s the museum was moved to the former printing house building on Brovina Street opposite the LenORS shop. It was very cold and was heated by three small cast-iron stoves and one masonry stove. In 1978, by a resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Yakut ASSR, all museums of the republic were incorporated into the Yakut State Museum named after Yaroslavsky and became its branches. As a result of this reorganization the museum received the name "Museum of the History of Agriculture of Yakutia". It is now one of the republic's most important historical monuments. The museum continues to carry out various research projects, hold exhibitions and promote the history of agriculture in Yakutia.
