Museum of the History of Political Repressions in Kyzyl

On February 16, 1994, by order of the State Committee for the Management of State Property, with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Cinema and Tourism and thanks to the efforts of the 'Memorial' society, made up of relatives and the victims themselves of political repressions, as well as Doctor of Historical Sciences, ethnologist, Honored Worker of Culture of the Republic of Tuva and the RSFSR, People's Writer of the RT Mongush Borakhovich Kenin-Lopsan, the Museum of the History of Political Repressions in Tuva was opened. Research is conducted here into the causes and conditions that led to political repressions, and their consequences are analyzed. The museum's exhibition is based on an assessment of events from the 1920s–1950s. The museum houses photographs of leaders of the Tuvan People's Republic (TPR), public figures of the republic, repressed citizens of the Republic and the USSR, and victims of political terror in Tuva in the post-war period.
