Nevyansk Regional History Museum
About museum
The Nevyansk Historical and Local History Museum is located in the very center of the town, in the building of a former power station. A leaning tower next to the museum building serves as a landmark. The museum's walls hold a veritable treasure trove of information. Visiting the Nevyansk History Museum, even the most demanding visitor will be pleased with what they see. At the entrance to the exhibition hall there are sculptures illustrating the appearance and folk costumes of the inhabitants of the Middle Urals. Displayed here is the figure of an indigenous Ural resident — a sculpture of a Russian peasant — as well as figures of peoples who settled here later: a Mansi fisherman and a Bashkir hunter. From the historical documents kept in the museum one can learn many interesting facts about iron ore mining, archaeological finds, and the origins of cottage industries. In addition, the archives contain information about the establishment of Dmitry Tumashev's "iron" factory. The museum exhibits a large number of items related to the history of the Nevyansk plant. Visitors can see a model of the 'tsar' blast furnace and view a panorama of the plant created from a 1742 drawing.
