Museum "City Estate of Novo‑Nikolaevsk"
About museum
The "City Estate of Novo‑Nikolaevsk" Museum is located in one of the rare pre‑revolutionary houses of Novo‑Nikolaevsk. It was built in 1905 for the family of cabman Evsey Metlin on Lenin Street, formerly Mikhailovskaya. The well‑known revolutionary figure Alexander Petukhov lived here from 1908 to 1912. It is a typical wooden dwelling of early 20th‑century Novo‑Nikolaevsk. The museum preserves the original layout of the living floor, and the basement has been restored to its former appearance. Recreated interiors and household furnishings convey an impression of everyday life of the townspeople of the young Novo‑Nikolaevsk. Photographs and documents from the NGKM collections complement the exhibition. A distinctive feature of the house is a plot of land measuring 250 sazhen (10 sotkas), where in the future a typical service yard of an early 20th‑century city estate will be located.
