Vata Village Museum-Library
About museum
The Vata Village Museum-Library has three staff members: two employees and one research worker. Its collection comprises more than 1,700 exhibits, of which 1,500 are presented in the exhibitions and form part of the museum's main holdings. In 1995 Tamara V. Velikorodova established the museum at the Vata village school, and in 2000 it gained the status of an independent institution, combining the functions of a museum and a library. Here visitors can not only borrow a book but also view the museum's exhibits and learn about the village's history. The villagers show great interest in the museum and donate exhibits and photographic documents. The main areas of the museum's work are the study of the past of the long-settled population, the restoration of regional traditions, rituals and culture. The museum is a non-profit institution under municipal authority specializing in local history, and does not have profit-making as its primary aim. The main focus of the museum's activities is cultural and mass events.
