Museum 'Archaeology, Ethnography and Ecology of Siberia' of Kemerovo University
About museum
The Museum 'Archaeology, Ethnography and Ecology of Siberia' of Kemerovo State University is the largest university museum in the region. It was founded in 1976. The museum's collections reflect the material and spiritual culture of the peoples of Southern Siberia across different historical periods, as well as the natural diversity of the region and adjacent territories. The archaeological materials include items from the Stone Age to the Middle Ages and ancient rock art. The ethnographic collections comprise objects of the Shors, Teleuts, Khakas and Russians of Siberia from the 19th to the early 20th century. Display cases and dioramas allow visitors to learn about the activities of the region's indigenous peoples — hunting, crafts, beliefs. The ecology department exhibits artistically prepared taxidermy of animals and birds from all continents. Special attention is given to the fauna of Kemerovo Oblast and species listed in the Red Book. The museum offers general and themed tours across all collection sections, allowing visitors to gain a deeper understanding of the region's history and culture.
