Mikhailovsky Garden
About museum
Mikhailovsky Garden is a historic monument of landscape architecture of the 18th–19th centuries, representing a unique combination of two styles of landscape art — formal (regular) and picturesque. It also serves as an example of the architectural unity between a building and the natural landscape. The Mikhailovsky Garden is part of the volumetric-spatial composition of Saint Petersburg, which includes the Summer Garden and the Field of Mars. Over the years the garden has continually changed its layout, following fashion trends and the tastes of its owners. It was created to the design of the famous architect Carlo Rossi. Mikhailovsky Garden is an unparalleled example of the art of landscape architecture, having earned the recognition of many generations.
