Mikhaylovsky Local History Museum
About museum
Mikhaylovsky Local History Museum was established by the decision of the administration of the Mikhaylovsk municipal formation in 2006 on the basis of the factory public museum; it was housed in the building of a former merchant mansion of the 19th century. The museum collection comprises 19,613 storage units, of which 11,354 items belong to the main collection. The museum has 6 small exhibition halls displaying 2,400 items of the city's cultural and everyday life, numismatics collections, stuffed animals and birds, and the history of the Mikhaylovsky ironworks of the 19th century, which in the 1960s–1990s became the center of Russia's foil-rolling industry. An exhibition about the fellow countryman — People's Artist of the RSFSR V.K. Troshin — has been opened. The museum conducts local history research, collects information on the city's history, organizes exhibitions and cultural-educational events, and serves as the city's socio-cultural center.
