About museum
Ivan Yakovlevich Yakovlev (1848–1930) was an educator who raised the Chuvash people to a new level of culture and national pride. He organized the education system for the Chuvash people and opened more than 400 schools for children not only of the Chuvash but also of other peoples of the Volga region. He was an honorary member of the British Bible Society in London and organized the translation and publication of the Holy Scripture and books on various fields of knowledge into the Chuvash language. In 1895, at the initiative and with the support of Ivan Yakovlevich Yakovlev, a museum building was constructed with local funds, and in 1998 it was completely restored by specialists from Kazan. In the center of the village there is a memorial complex 'Outstanding People of the village Koshki-Novotimbaevo', a monument to participants of the Great Patriotic War, home-front workers and children of war, as well as four commemorative memorial plaques at the birthplaces of the village's notable figures. Visitors can tour these sites and pay tribute to the outstanding people who did so much for the development and prosperity of the Chuvash people.
