About museum
The memorial house-museum of Dagestan's People's Poet Anvar Adzhiev is the house he built and lived in from 1950 until his death. Here he created his best works. You can learn about the life and work of this outstanding poet, his circle and family. The museum houses a rich collection that tells about Anvar's genealogy, his childhood and youth. A special place is occupied by the section "The Poet During the War." During the Second World War two of Anvar Adzhiev's brothers went to the front. In those years several poetry collections and a book of translations of his works into Russian were published. Anvar Adzhiev's poems dedicated to the heroes of the war became very popular and were sung to the accompaniment of the agach-kumuz. The Anvar Adzhiev memorial house-museum has been a branch of the National Museum of Dagestan named after A. Taho-Godi since 2002 and contains more than 1,800 exhibits.
