On April 17, 1970, the Literary Museum named after Platon Alekseyevich Oyunsky — a prominent statesman, scholar, and founder of Yakut Soviet literature — was opened in Yakutia. It was established in the house where Oyunsky lived with his family from 1935 to 1938. In 1980 a stone building was put into use for the museum, featuring an exhibition that shows the development of Yakut literature. The works of Oyunsky and other Yakut writers, poets, and publicists are kept here. Visitors can view the exhibition and also attend lectures about the life and work of P. Oyunsky. This was a significant event in the history of Yakutian culture.
