About museum
The museum in Perekop was opened in 1957. Initially, the main collection was formed from exhibits of the Civil War of 1920 and the Great Patriotic War. In addition, the museum contains artifacts from the Scythian period, the Crimean Khanate and the Ottoman Empire, archaeological collections of the Yamnaya (Pit Grave) and Catacomb cultures, and ethnographic household items of resettled peoples and the Crimean Tatars. Special attention is given to the collection of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, which includes documents, photographs, veterans' memoirs and items from the battlefields. At present the museum holds up to 10,000 exhibits that reflect the history of Northern Crimea from antiquity to the present day.
