Krasnoyarsk Rural Library
About museum
In 1957 a rural library was established in the Krasnoyarsky District; it holds about three thousand items in its collection. Today the library has 225 regular patrons. Over many years of operation the library has gathered a large amount of information about the history of the village and its inhabitants, has published works on the history of Krasnoyarsk villagers' surnames, and has accumulated numerous songs, chastushkas, and traditions. Together with the local community organization "Krasnoyarsky Sunduchek" a museum room called the "Russian izba" was created, displaying household items, farm implements, and other exhibits. A special place is the red corner, where icons, a shelving unit and a table for honored guests are located. The heart of this place is the Russian stove, which traditionally occupied the main place in the izba and was used for cooking, heating the house, sleeping, and drying grain. People from different corners of the Kabansky District and Buryatia come to the Krasnoyarsk izba to try village pickles and other homemade treats, and to learn about each object in the izba.
