Krasnoarmeysky Local History Museum
About museum
In 1987 the Krasnoarmeysky Museum of Revolutionary, Military and Labor Glory was opened, located in a one-story brick building from the early 20th century with an area of 174 sq. m. It was the house of affluent German colonists. In 1990 this museum became a branch of the Saratov Regional Museum of Local Lore, and since 1997 it has had the right to be called a local history museum. The museum's holdings consist of more than 6,500 storage units, including ethnographic and decorative-applied collections, documents and photographs from the late 19th – early 20th centuries, ceramic works by masters from the village of Zolotoe, and a collection of rare books. The exhibition area of 127 sq. m. presents the events of collectivization and the repressions of the 1930s–1940s, the establishment of light industry and engineering enterprises on the basis of cottage workshops, the heroes of the front and rear during World War II, and contemporary events. Today the museum is a center of cultural life for the town and district: events are held here, awards are given, and seminars and conferences are organized.
